British Transport Police launch non-emergency text service

I did actually think this was a joke when I first read it - because I'm so London-centric that I forget not everyone commutes on the Underground, where there isn't much mobile coverage.

So this isn't a bad idea, and in keeping with the theme of this blog, making public transport safer (and feel safer) makes it more likely that people will use it rather than getting into their cars. Which is more...you know, sustainable.

Of course, it helps if the Transport Police actually have the resources to deal with the messages they receive. Guess we'll see about that.
