A link to a very interesting paper by John Adams, Professor of Geography at University College London. Very gloomy, but not unreasonably so. Considers the vast increase in mobility since the 1950s, and what that has meant for physical and mental environments. Well worth a read.

In regards to John Adams paper; I did find it an interesting read but one that was unnecessarily negative. I agree that our attention should be drawn to the cost of our increase in mobility but focus should also be placed in the solutions that are emerging. Maybe the best starting point would be from a expert in the field of evolutionary psychology undertaking some research & investigation into why we have a fundamental need to travel!
