Met with Pachube this week - it's pronounced 'Patch-You-Bay', which wasn't at all obvious to me. Interesting start-up which develops enabling software and technology which could help to 'horizontalise' Machine to Machine communications -- something that needs to happen if M2M is ever to be really useful in saving the planet. Pachube plans to develop tools to collect, store, and reformat/transcode information from sensors. Nothing else - they won't make sensors, they won't write applications. If M2M is potentially the nervous system for the energy economy, then Pachube (a generalized realtime data brokerage platform in their speak) is a neurotransmitter. Good luck to them!
