A long article in the Israeli quality newspaper Haaretz about navigation apps, triggered by Google's purchase of Waze, but also reporting on some others including public transport apps Moovit, Efo Bus (which does sound rather good - the name means "Where is bus?" in Hebrew) and NetBus.
This last one is interesting. It pulls data from the Israeli Ministry of Transport servers. Unfortunately it's almost impossible to find out much about it (are you listening, Net Bus?) - even the link to the official site on the Wikipedia page points to the wrong place. Spooky...
